GENERAL INFO
Bust-monument of Georgi Benkovski, „Knyaz Boris’ Garden“, included in the so-called „Alley of Distinguished Bulgarians“. This bust-monument is the second work in the park of the first professional Bulgarian sculptor Zheko Spiridonov after the bust of Ivan Vazov. This is hardly accidental considering the close friendship between the two artists. The monument seems to recreate in the language of sculpture the image of Benkovski created by the poet Vazov (see the two quatrains from the „Epic of the Forgotten“ on both sides of the pedestal). The monument, opened in 1929, is in the style of national romance from the post-liberation era. Total height 3.20 m., several tiered pedestal with cornices. Declared a cultural monument of local importance in „Izvestia“ village, no. 73/ 09. 09. 1955
